BCLP seeks Winona participants

Grand Rapids, MN – As part of its commitment to strengthening rural communities, Blandin Foundation is once again making its Blandin Community Leadership Program (BCLP) available to residents from the community of Winona.

This is the fifth time BCLP training has been available for the Winona area. BCLP alumni throughout the state use the strategies and skills learned in BCLP training to advance community cooperation, address issues of ethnic and cultural diversity, promote tourism, create economic development opportunities, address the needs of seniors and deal creatively with health and housing issues, education and violence reduction among others.

A committee of local residents is actively seeking applicants. All those interested in the future of the Winona area are invited to apply to participate in this nationally recognized program. Deadline to apply is Monday, August 26, 2013.

Applications can be accessed and completed online at: www.blandinfoundation.org (on the home page, click the pinecones, then on the next page click your community).

Ultimately, a community team of 24 people will be selected to take part in eight days of training – a five-day residential retreat scheduled for November 4-8, 2013 at Sugar Lake Lodge south of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and two workshops; February 4-5, 2014 and April 29, 2014. BCLP is underwritten by the Blandin Foundation, which covers all costs for training, materials, food, lodging and tuition.
