Shari Undeland
Director of Human Resources
I grew up in the area, on the eastern side of the Iron Range, as did my husband. Growing up, I enjoyed downhill skiing, camping, anything outdoors, preferably on or at the lake. One of my favorite memories of growing up in a small community neighborhood were nightly games of hide-and-seek with all the neighborhood kids.
I continue to appreciate living rural — now on the western side of “the Range” in Grand Rapids — with my husband, two daughters, and our dog. I continue to enjoy all things outdoors with family and friends. I like to say that we “live in the woods,” as we live in the country, surrounded by access to some of our favorite outdoor recreation activities including hiking trails, lakes for fishing and watersports, cross-country ski trails, and snowmobile trails. We also enjoy camping together with family and friends as much as possible in the summer.
People matter. Coworkers and community members, as well as family. My work brings me into conversation with many people. I deeply enjoy seeing people grow and flourish in their work at the Foundation, and it brings me much satisfaction to be part of that process. In my role, I am responsible for the human resources programs and making sure systems and processes are in place so that our staff have resources they need to do the great work of our mission.
