Blandin Foundation website receives awards

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. – The Blandin Foundation website has been honored with two international awards for design.

The International Academy of the Visual Arts awarded the Blandin Foundation website its gold “Award of Excellence,” the top award in the charitable organization category for the Academy’s 2010 Communicator Awards. With thousands of entries received from across the United States and around the world, the 2010 Communicator Awards are the most competitive awards program honoring the creative excellence for communications professionals, according to the Academy.

The Foundation also received a Silver Summit International Creative Award in the category of non-profit websites. The sixteen-year-old award recognizes and celebrates accomplishments of small- and medium-sized creative organizations around the world.

Both awards were presented to Bicycle Theory, a small Minnesota firm that designed the Blandin Foundation website (www.BlandinFoundation.org) and related sites for community leadership, broadband, and forestry.

“The Internet has become an important avenue for us to help build healthy rural Minnesota communities,” said Jim Hoolihan, Blandin Foundation President. “We are pleased that these organizations recognize our efforts to share knowledge and offer transparency through the Internet and through our website.”
